Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP dominate at Loket Created: 2022-07-17

Leaping into action at full strength yet again, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team tackled the Grand Prix of Czech Republic earlier today. The thirteenth round of the 2022 FIM Motocross World Championship, which took place following a two-week break, was run in front of a capacity crowd.

Jeremy Seewer was gelling with the set-up of his YZ450FM from the moment that the weekend started, as he was incredibly competitive and ripped to pole position in a commanding fashion. Sunday’s opening moto was eerily similar for him; he took the holeshot, again making use of his strong machine, and stormed to a convincing race win. Seewer followed that up with a solid second place in the second stint, which was more than enough for him to take the overall victory at the Grand Prix of Czech Republic. ’91’ has moved back to second place in the championship standings now too.

It’s easy to forget that Maxime Renaux has not raced in a month and is coming off of a back injury, especially with the way that he rode at today’s Grand Prix! Renaux charged toward the front in moto one, after a top-five start, and eventually progressed to third at the finish line. It was an impressive result, but the next race was even more phenomenal. Renaux took the lead quite quickly and dropped the hammer. There was just no stopping him – he raced to a comfortable win and secured second overall in his return to Grands Prix.

Glenn Coldenhoff was right in the thick of the action at the Grand Prix of Czech Republic, as he battled inside of the top five and desperately tried to claw his way onto the podium. 4-4 scores meant that he just missed out on a top-three ranking, but he was oh so close to joining his teammates on the box! ‘259’ is just eleven measly points from fourth in the premier-class standings too.

From the hard pack of Loket to the bottomless sand of Lommel. The next round of the 2022 FIM Motocross World Championship, round fourteen, will be run in Belgium, just a short trip from the team’s base. One of the most gruelling events in the world awaits!

Jeremy Seewer: “It’s incredible to win this one, even though I feel like I could have gone 1-1. I just made one mistake too much. I was a bit quicker, but Maxime [Renaux] was riding really well. Although I tried to catch him, I could not make it happen. I took the GP win, which is amazing after a tough week. I feel like I was not perfectly prepared for this one but I’m not giving up, there are still a few rounds left and I will fight for as many points as possible. We will see what we get and I will try to win some more.”

Maxime Renaux: “To come back like this after such a bad injury was not easy. We really made some big steps with the physio to be able to be here in good shape. It’s just amazing. I could not have dreamed of a better return to racing. To get a race win and be second on the podium is just fantastic. I am just super grateful, because it could have been much worse and I am still not done for the championship. I just hope to continue like this to the end of the season.”

Glenn Coldenhoff: “The first moto today was good. I was pushing hard but stayed a bit too long behind [Jorge] Prado. I had the pace of the guys in front of me, except for Jeremy [Seewer] who just had a little bit more. In the second one my start was not bad, but [Tim] Gajser passed me on the first lap. I was just a little bit off the pace and also did not feel too well. I was struggling a little bit. In the end 4-4 is still a solid result, but I want more than that.”
