Shaun Simpson, a four-time Grand Prix winner and former British champion, will be shooting to put his YZ450F on the top step of the podium again. Simpson excelled in the Indonesian slop in 2017 but was then hit by an unfortunate string of injuries that derailed his campaign. It’ll be easy to spot the Scotsman, as his enthusiastic army of fans will chase the Wilvo Yamaha MXGP truck across the globe.
Shaun Simpson’s racing career started in 2005 when he first joined the MX2 class. Shaun started working his way to the top and after four years, in 2008, #24 was crowned British Champion and ended 4th overall in the MX2 World Championship. In 2011 the Scotsman joined the FIM MX1 World Championship. In the past two years Shaun’s strenghts and capacities were overshadowed by bad luck and setbacks due to injuries.
But a new season is just around the corner and Simpson is all ready and set for 2018. The fact that he is arguably one of the better sand riders in his class will only help him achieve his goals.
Shaun Simpson’s favourite track is the decades old Unadilla track in the USA.
